Audi all-new, and we do mean all-new, Le Mans racer has recently been at Sebring International raceway where it had its first official shakedown outside Europe with all nine drivers taking turns at the wheel.

It gave the team a chance to complete their dry weather testing, apparently they couldn’t find a dry place in Europe being winter and all! Two new Audi R18 cars and one Audi R15 TDI were used in tests.

The reason Audi R18 tests matter so much is because this new monster is totally different than all of its champion predecessors, so many people are skeptical it can follow their footsteps to the podium. It might as well become even better, no body knows!

“We’re very pleased with the performance of the Audi R18 at our first outing at Sebring,” said Head of Audi Motorsport Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. “We opted for this race track because it makes high demands on the mechanical systems of our vehicles. The temperatures are better than in Europe right now, plus the dry weather provides us with assurance that we’re able to conduct the endurance runs as planned. On a wet track the loads would be lower and the test results therefore less conclusive.”
