Last year during SEMA show VW revealed a concept variant of its Jetta model which was a race-inspired sedan with many sporty factors. Now that car is making its way into the production with the Street Edition badge.

IT is based on the Jetta TDI Cup model and features a 2.0 liter Clean Diesel engine developing 140 hp and 236 lb/ft of torque. The engine makes use of an advanced electronically controlled turbocharger and common rail direct injection technology, and can be mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or the highly acclaimed DSG transmission.

The Jetta Street also has distinctive features inside and out, such as 18-inch Charleston wheels with performance all-season tires, sport seats with Interlagos cloth, and a leather-wrapped, multi-function steering wheel. It also has modified bumpers, side skirts and rear valance like those on the Cup racing models.

2010 VW Jetta TDI Street Edition is priced around $25,000 for the American market.
