Doug Fehan, Corvette Racing program manager has revealed that the new Chevy Corvette C6R, which will compete in GT2 class in Le Mans and GT series, will get an all-new production-based 5.5 liter V8 engine.

This new powerplant replace the 7.0 liter and also the downsized 6.0 liter V8s in the range, and according to Mr.Fehan, its performance is quite satisfying. A more efficient engine will help with fuel economy and in an endurance race, that means less pit stops and more laps!
