Porsche Cayman R Britain’s Best Driver’s Car 2011

The hotted-up version of Porsche Cayman sports coupe named Britain’s Best Driver’s Car for 2011 after winning the annual contest run by Autocar magazine. Autocar pit 11 cars against each other in this test, which were worth a total of almost £900,000. The Cayman R’s competition included: McLaren MP4-12C, Mercedes CLS64 AMG, Vauxhall Corsa VXR, Renault Mégane Trophy, Caterham Supersport, Aston Martin Vantage S, Jaguar XKR-S, Lotus Evora S and BMW 1M. Judges were impress by the £51,728 Cayman R’s completeness, steering and ride. n a well-deserved second place was the light and nimble Caterham Seven Supersport. Porsche At 2011 Monterey Car Weekend

Porsche announced plans for the 2011 Monterey Classic Car Weekend, and it includes showcase of motorsport heritage of its iconic 911 sports car alongside the 918 RSR Concept. They will will feature several historic 911 race cars, including the 1979 935 from the Brumos Collection, believed to be the last remaining unmodified 935 in existence, as well as the 911 S that carried Hurley Haywood to 10 Camel GT race wins in 1972. Porsche had promised that they will unveil a new mid-engined sports coupe in Los Angeles this month, and they did, although the word NEW was not completely relevant! It is the Cayman R, a semi stripped-out version of the Cayman S, with new colors and wheels, and 10 more horsepower! Porsche says the R, inspired by mid-engined 904 coupes of the 1960s, has been developed to provide pure, distilled driving dynamics. Than 10 hp though make it the most powerful mid-engine car they’ve ever made.
