Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid Returns To Nurburgring

The world’s first ever full hybrid race car, the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid, will be back at this year’s Nurburgring 24 hours race with its Version 2.0. Last year the car had to retire  towards the end of the race due to a technical difficulty. This year though Porsche is more confident despite the fact that the 911 GT3 R Hybrid has been substantially reined in by the organisers. After the latest re-classification, the combustion engine now produces only 448 hp. Aston Zagato V12 Hits The Ring

In preparation for the 2011 Nurburgring 24 hours race, where the Aston Martin Zagato V12 will make its racing debut, the company unleashed the car in its full racing livery. This week Aston Martin is putting the final touches to its race preparations in readiness for the toughest 24 hour race of them all – the annual ADAC Nürburgring 24 Hours on 25 and 26 June where a brace of new Aston Martin V12 Zagatos will compete. Toyota GRMN Sports Hybrid

The Japanese car maker is about to make a big return to the sportscar segment, with something that will be a lot like that you see here. It’s called the GRMN SPORTS HYBRID Concept II and it’s an updated version of a petrol-electric sports concept shown at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2010. The vehicle features advanced styling and an improved sports-hybrid AWD system with the main power unit (petrol engine, rear-wheel drive motors and transmission) mid-mounted in conjunction with a front-wheel drive motor. Volkswagen Line-up For 2011 Nurburgring 24-hour Race

Volkswagen announced its lineup of cars and drivers, taking on the legendary 24-hour race at the Nurburgring this weekend, and it includes three 450-hp Golf24 cars. Golf24, is a purpose-built race car for this event, powered by a 450-hp 2.5-litre five cylinder turbo engine, equipped with four-wheel drive, a sequential 6-speed gearbox with paddle shifters and, last but not least, a spectacular body shell. High-calibre racers will be taking turns at the wheel of three factory-fielded cars. Lexus Hires Audi Driver For Nurburgring 24Hr

This year Gazoo Racing will enter two Lexus LFAs in the Nurburgring 24-hour race and trying to maximize their chance of winning, they’ve hired André Lotterer, a member of the winning squad at this year’s Le Mans race. Lotterer, a German racer who is a double series champion for Lexus in Japanese Super GT 500 competition, will form part of a powerful driver line-up for the two LFA that will be taking part, led by driver/team manager Akira Iida. Gazoo Racing is also due to bring one of its race cars straight from the Nürburgring to this year’s Goodwood Festival of Speed, from 30 June to 3 July.
