Mugen announced plans for 260-hp version of the Honda Civic Type R powered by a 2.2 liter engine.It is basically the same 2.0 liter engine tuned for a proper send-off. The cylinder bore and stroke have been increased to create an overall capacity of 2,156cc, so the car has been christened the Honda Civic Type R MUGEN 2.2. The result of the change is a boost in engine output from 240 to 260PS, and additional torque is available throughout the rev range. Peak torque is now 240Nm at 6,000rpm. Honda keeps saying the Mugen CR-Z concepts are just design studies and they will never make them. But then they keep releasing new details on them, teasing people to death! So they might become real after all. As for the specs of the Mugen CR-Z RR, it has been created with many bespoke prototype parts, several of which are created in carbon fibre, including the bonnet, passenger doors and rear tailgate. Other features unique to the car include a full length carbon-fibre underbody, a twin central-exit exhaust, vented front bumpers and race-developed suspension. Mugen is one of the most famous names in the world of performance motoring. Even if you haven’t experience joys of driving a Mugen Honda, you must have heard about it. Anyhow, they have now decided to make thing right with the CR-Z, now that Honda itself is reluctant to come up with a better version of it. The Honda CR-Z by MUGEN EURO is to all intents and purposes the Type-R version of the car. Only it is a concept car for the 2011 Goodwood festival of Speed and there is no plan for production. The great Ariel Atom will turn 10 next year and to celebrate this occasion they are going to unveil a limited edition of just 10 cars. They are tuned by Mugen, which has tweaked the Honda Civic Type R’s K20Z 2.0 liter 270 hp engine that powers the Atom. It is also going to be a lightened and tougher than regular four-cylinder Atoms, but probably not just as tough as the V8 model. It is made only for track use.
