In spite of all the doubts and skepticism about Audi R18′s new design, the car proved to be best in the qualifying session of 2011 Le Mans 24-hours race by a dominating front row lockup. Now they can comfortably plan for their 10th Le Mans victory. For Audi, this marks the sixth pole position at Le Mans in total and the first since 2006 when the brand with the four rings achieved the first victory of a diesel-powered vehicle at the world’s most famous endurance race. 2011 Le Mans: BMW Takes GTE Class Pole

The no. 55 BMW M3 GT managed to take the pole position in the LM GTE class by setting a lap time of 3:57.592 minutes in the third qualifying session. The second BMW M3 GT (number 56) will tackle the 79th running of the endurance classic from third on the grid. Andy Priaulx (GB) had posted this car’s  best lap with a time of 3:58.426 minutes during Wednesday’s first qualifying session. BMW At 2011 Le Mans 24-Hour

This time at the 2011 Le Mans 24-hour race BMW will be competing in GT class with two BMW M3 GTs. You probably recognize this car as the star of Le Mans endurance series as well as the ALMS. They are currently having a successful career, so BMW motorsport thought why not trying out the 24-hour race. Nissan 2011 LMP2 Car

Nissan decided to make a comeback to Le Mans racing with a prototype racer this year. They already have the GTR in GT1 class, but it’s been a while since last they raced in sportscar category. To make this happen, Nissan announced a new two-year partnership with the French-based Signature Group racing team starting from the famed Mobil One 12 Hours of Sebring. They will compete in the Intercontinental Le Mans Cup (ILMC) with an open-cockpit Signatech racer that is powered by a potent 3.4-liter racing versions of the Japanese auto manufacturer’s VK series of V-8 engines, race-tuned by Nissan’s tuner NISMO. Aston Martin AMR-One

Finally the British superbrand Aston Martin revealed their new Le Mans contender for the 2011 season. They call is the AMR-One, and apart from the all-new design and aerodynamics, what’s most choking about it is the engine. We had heard rumors that Aston is mulling six-cylinder turbo engines, but we couldn’t guess they want to use it for this! That’s right, this LMP1 racer has let go of the 6.0 liter V12 for an in-line six cylinder, direct injection, intercooled, turbocharged petrol engine with a displacement of just 2,000 cc.
