Peugeot 908 HYbrid4 Hits The Track

Now that the initial excitement of the unveiling of the new Peugeot 908 HYbrid4 racer is gone, it’s tome to get down to business on the race track and plan for the upcoming events. One month after its convincing shakedown run at a private PSA Peugeot Citroën venue on September 16, the 908 HYbrid4 underwent its first genuine track test at Estoril, Portugal, in October. The car completed a little more than 300km in the hands of Nicolas Minassian, Stéphane Sarrazin and Alexander Wurz. Toyota Back In Le Mans From 2012

After more than a decade of absence, Toyota will be back to race at Le Mans 24 hours and the endurance series in 2012 with a hybrid race car. The new team will be based at Toyota Motorsport’s Cologne headquarters and it is expected that the new car will be rolled out early in 2012 for an extensive pre-season testing programme. Toyota will compete in the Le Mans 24 Hours in 2012 with a new hybrid power sports car. MG Motorsport Targeting Le Mans

As one of the oldest British brands, MG has always been involved in motorsport. Well, until they went bust! Now though that they are back on their feet with Chinese money, they are ready to make a big comeback. MG Motor UK has teamed up with Team RLR, which runs an MG Lola EX265 sports prototype in the Le Mans Series of endurance races throughout Europe. Next year the Bolton-based team hopes to take part in the Le Mans 24-hour race and will use this season to gain valuable racing experience. Porsche Back To Le Mans LMP1

The world’s most successful manufacturer at Le Mans 24 hours announced they will be back to the LMP1 prototype class – which they last won in 1998 – in 2014. With the RS Spyder sports prototype that was run with great success from 2006 to 2008 by the factory-backed Penske Racing team in the USA, and to 2010 by several customer teams worldwide, Porsche has set the benchmark recently in the LMP2 category. GreenGT LMP H2 Le Mans Racer

Automobile Club de L’Ouest (ACO), the guys behind Le Mans, have come up with a new experimental vehicle which will introduce fuel cell technology to motorsport at next year’s Le Mans 24-hours. Based on an LMP chassis, the GreenGT LMP H2 will be fueled by hydrogen and integrate its own onboard power plant.Considering the efficiencies of thermal and electric motors, a mere 150 g of hydrogen are enough to replace one liter of gasoline.
