Owen Turbochargers Power 2011 BTCC Cars

This year’s British Touring Cars Championship season is an important event for Owen Developments, which supplies motorsport and aftermarket performance turbos to a global customer base, as they are the provider of the control specification turbocharger units for the NGTC (Next Generation Touring Car) and their turbocharged 2.0-litre engines being used by the majority of the grid. TOCA – the organisers of the British Touring Car Championship – has made turbo engines mandatory to arrive at a good comprise between budgets and performance. 2011 Toyota Avensis BTCC

As you know Toyota will return to Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship in 2011. Granted, they won’t be involved directly in BTCC, but will support privateer teams who will race with the new Avensis BTCC. Dynojet Racing and Hughes Motorsport/Speedworks are the two teams who will run the Avensis BTCC this season and will kick off next weekend at at Brands Hatch Grand Prix. They are having some problems though, due to the component delays which mean Frank Wrathall’s Dynojet Avensis car will not undergo shakedown tests until early next week. 2011 Chevrolet Cruze BTCC

Silverline Chevrolet team revealed their new 2011 Cruze BTCC race car for this season’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. The car has the same sort of specs as the WTCC Cruze built by RML and uses the same successful driver line-up as 2010; driver’s champion Jason Plato and promising young gun, Alex MacDowall. It does get a new livery though, featuring prominent sponsorship from Silverline, as well as series sponsors Dunlop, Holiday Inn, Auto Express and Evo.The car makes its debut at the first race of the season on Sunday April 3 at Brands Hatch, Kent. Ford Focus Touring Car

Ford is developing a new Touring race car based on the new Focus which will be used for global touring races around the world from 2011. They announced this plan at the SEMA show, and confirmed the beginning of 2011 British Touring Car Championship as the debut race for this car. It’s also qualified for WTCC and other series. Next year British Touring Car Championship will have new regulations in hope to being back the good old days when BTCC was still exciting! And the first car to be built with the new rules is this, a Toyota Avensis, being prepared by GPR Motorsport team and backed by Toyota. Here’s the first rendering of the car giving us a preview of how it will look like. It’s an official Toyota car for BTCC, as they’ve announced they’re not coming back.
