November 23, 2011 at 9:34 pm

One of the most important new cars for Aston Martin is the car that will never hit the roads! It’s the V12 Vantage GT3 which from net season will replace the DBRS9 race car in endurance and GT racing series. Aston Martin Racing began testing its new V12 Vantage GT3 at Brands Hatch in Kent this week, covering almost 1000 kilometres in just two days. The majority of the mileage was conducted by factory driver Darren Turner. It uses a significantly revised version of the DBRS9’s 6.0-litre V12 engine. Changes include a lightweight crankshaft, dry sump lubrication and new valve trains for even greater performance and reliability. It seems to be up to the job. The V12 Vantage GT3 will [...]

Rear-Wheel-Drive Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder

November 19, 2011 at 7:14 pm

Before this if you wanted a RWD Gallardo your only choice was the stripey Gallardo Balboni. And that’s tough because it’s sold out and very hard to find. Luckily, Lamborghini just launched a rear-drive version of the Spyder. It’s called the Gallardo LP550-2 Spyder. LP stands for Longitudinale/Posteriore, for the mid-engine built longitudinally in front of the rear axle. 550 refers to the power output in hp, and the 2 stands for the drive to the rear wheels. The setup is laid out to ensure that the rear end remains reliable and stable at all times, while the front axle steers with the highest level of precision and limits movement to an absolute minimum. In order to shape this unique [...]

November 17, 2011 at 5:57 pm

Volkswagen brought along the Beetle R Concept, shown previously in Frankfurt, to the Los Angeles Motor Show to announce production of this hotted-up Beetle. This is not the car for typical Beetle buyers, but the more hard-core ones! he front and rear bumpers are completely redesigned, and are a generous 30 mm wider than standard. Three chunky air intakes in a black high-gloss finish dominate the front; the central one to provide air to the radiator, and the side two to aid cooling of the brakes. Additional engine cooling is provided by vents on either side of the top of the bonnet. The rear wings are also 15 mm wider than is standard, helping them to flow purposefully into the [...]

Subaru BRZ Details

November 17, 2011 at 5:51 pm

The wraps finally come off the Subaru BRZ as the car makes it debut at the Los Angeles Autoshow. And we have the first details of the car here. Based on an all-new rear-wheel drive (RWD) compact sports car developed from an ongoing joint-project between Subaru and Toyota Motor Corporation, the car utilizes a new boxer 2.0 liter engine that helps it achieve the lowest center of gravity. If you are wondering that’s the point of that, it will result in great handling, given the compact size of the car. Looks-wise, the car comes with a hexagonal lower front grille, hawk eye headlights and fin-shaped fog lamps make the front face instantly recognizable as Subaru. The STI-made lower front spoiler [...]
