Morgan Electric Car

Morgan too decided the best way forward is to switch from making gas guzzling sportscar to high-tech electric cars.

What they are proposing though it a bit different than everybody else’s. They are working on a system with with Zytek drive through a manual gearbox will increase performance, range and driver involvement. So far all the EVs have 1-speed transmissions. The idea of a manual gearbox sounds bonkers, but it might work, and it does, that means they can deliver more torque to the wheels, and seeing as electric motors develop torque in big lumps, that means incredible performance.

The prototype Morgan will use a new derivative of Zytek’s proven 70kW (94bhp) 300Nm electric powertrain, which is already supplied to US vehicle manufacturers. The compact, lightweight unit will be installed in the transmission tunnel and will require just three additional connections (cooling water, high voltage electrics and low voltage electrics).

Let’s wait and see how it will ponder on. Morgan has a got a healthy dose of pluck about them, so they may pull it off after all!
