Kia Forte Koup Grand-AM Racer

The last thing you expect from a Kia Forte is to become a race car! Because it’s a nice and sensible family car, and despite the looks of its coupe variant, or Koup as they say, it’s a sedan underneath. And before anything, it’s a Kia with no racing pedigree whatsoever!

But you gotta start somewhere! That’s why Kia America in collaboration with Kinetic Groupe have prepared two racing Koups to compete in GRAND-AM’s Street Tuner (ST) class. Despite the very appealing racing livery, the car come with the standard 2.4 liter engine and front-wheel-drive drivetrain. Now that’s not very sporty!

“Consumers have come to recognise the Kia brand for attractively designed and priced vehicles that are fuel efficient and have a long list of standard features, and we are looking forward to introducing Forte Koup and the Kia brand to a new audience of auto racing fans throughout the Continental Tyre Sports Car Challenge season” said Michael Sprague, vice president of marketing Kia Motors America.
