Ford officially revealed the new generation of Mustang Boss 302 and revived the brand after 42 years.

The car is set for debut at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, and will go on sale in 2012. The car is based on the 2011 Mustang GT, but features upgraded engine, suspension, brakes, interior, exterior and technology. A Boss 302 Laguna Seca track model will also be available in limited numbers.

2010 Mustang Boss will get the same 5.0 liter V8 as in the GT, but it has different ECU setting and better air intake and exhausts. So it produces 440 hp and 380 pound-feet of torque. The top speed however is limited to 155 mph!

The car gets track-inspired suspension upgrades as higher-rate coils, stiffer bushings and a larger-diameter rear bar, as well as five-way adjustable shocks that are manually tuned with the twist of a screwdriver.

Brakes have been enhanced with a high-performance pad compound, plus Brembo four-pot calipers up front and unique ABS tuning. The Boss also features unique traction- and stability-control settings that can be disabled for track use. Ford fits Pirelli PZero rubber — 255/40ZR19s in front, 285/35ZR19s in rear — mounted on unique black alloy racing wheels.
