Caterham at 2011 Autosport Show
Caterham has made a lot of noise at the Autosport International Show at Birmingham’s NEC this week by revealing a new prototype racer and presenting a drift show.
The British sportscar maker unveiled their new model, Caterham-Lola SP/300.R, which unlike what most people were expecting is not a road car, rather a racing machine for a one-make racing series and track day events. This cool racer is very light and features a supercharged version of the Ford Duratec power plant, expected to produce around 300bhp.
Beside that, Caterham Drive Experience, usually reserved for the UK’s top race venues, will take centre stage on a bespoke indoor drift course with Caterham’s professional drivers at the helm, showing off the car’s maneuverability and handling.
All that’s fine, but we would also love to see a brand-new road-going model. They have the technology and there is a great market for a new (slightly better equipped) Caterham.
