Volkswagen brought along the Beetle R Concept, shown previously in Frankfurt, to the Los Angeles Motor Show to announce production of this hotted-up Beetle. This is not the car for typical Beetle buyers, but the more hard-core ones! he front and rear bumpers are completely redesigned, and are a generous 30 mm wider than standard. Three chunky air intakes in a black high-gloss finish dominate the front; the central one to provide air to the radiator, and the side two to aid cooling of the brakes. Volkswagen Line-up For 2011 Nurburgring 24-hour Race

Volkswagen announced its lineup of cars and drivers, taking on the legendary 24-hour race at the Nurburgring this weekend, and it includes three 450-hp Golf24 cars. Golf24, is a purpose-built race car for this event, powered by a 450-hp 2.5-litre five cylinder turbo engine, equipped with four-wheel drive, a sequential 6-speed gearbox with paddle shifters and, last but not least, a spectacular body shell. High-calibre racers will be taking turns at the wheel of three factory-fielded cars. VW Caddy Racer Makes Racing Debut

The new Volkswagen Caddy Racer makes it first track outing at Snetterton over the weekend, 14-15 May in the 2011 Volkswagen Racing Cup. Even though the car the car managed only 11th and 14th places in the two races, Volkswagen is pleased with the results.It started 15th from qualifying in race 1 with Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles UK director, Simon Elliott, at the wheel and managed to cross the line 11th, while in race 2 even though he’d moved up to eighth position by the first corner, at the end he couldn’t do better than 14th.
