Now that the initial excitement of the unveiling of the new Peugeot 908 HYbrid4 racer is gone, it’s tome to get down to business on the race track and plan for the upcoming events. One month after its convincing shakedown run at a private PSA Peugeot Citroën venue on September 16, the 908 HYbrid4 underwent its first genuine track test at Estoril, Portugal, in October. The car completed a little more than 300km in the hands of Nicolas Minassian, Stéphane Sarrazin and Alexander Wurz. Peugeot RCZ Nokia Wins At 2011 VLN Series

The Kumho-shod RCZ 2.0 HDi Sport Coupes belonging to Peugeot RCZ Nokia team started the 2011 VLN Series on a high note gaining podium finish with a dominant 1st and 2nd in class in round two at the Nürburgring last weekend. The magnificent RCZ Diesel in the hand of German Michael Bohrer scored pole for the category with a best lap of 9:55.224 minutes, and he and his team mates Stéphane Caillet and Jürgen Nett who achieved the victory – averaging 137.777 kph (circa 86.1 mph) over the four hours of the event. Peugeot 908 HYbrid4 LMP1 Racer

Peugeot is the next car maker to try out hybrid technologies for motorsport with the new 908 HYbrid4 LMP1 cars. Let’s cut straight to the chase and talk about its engine! It’s a a 3.7-litre V8 HDi FAP diesel producing 550 HP coupled with an electric motor that provides a short power boost of 60kW (80hp) for a few seconds when it is activated. It will also be possible to run in electric only mode along the pit-lane and it is this mode that will be used for the car’s homologation. Peugeot 90X

Peugeot motorsport division revealed their new prototype racer, currently codenamed the 90X. This new race car has new aerodynamic characteristics chief among which is the new shark fin on the engine cover. Speaking of the engine, Peugeot does not reveal any details on that, and just say they’re exploring different options for that. So it might be a diesel like the 908, or a hybrid, or maybe just a normal petrol. They say it’s not a replacement for the current908 HDi LeMans racer, and that it will be developed in parallel with that car. Every time Peugeot launches a new GTi it’s an occasion! Even if this badge appears on a fat and rather boring car such as the 308. This time it’s got all it needs to take on the mighty Golf GTI.
