Prodrive Roll Cage For Mini Rally Car

Engineering firm Prodrive has come up with a new kind of roll cages for the Mini world rally car that performs much better in side impacts. A combination of design innovation, rigorous analysis and exhaustive physical testing has allowed Prodrive to develop a new configuration of side-impact protection that could also improve the safety performance of other race and road cars. The innovative new curved shape of the door beams allows them to withstand much higher impact forces than traditional straight bars, in a similar way to the improved dent-resistance of curved body panels compared to flat ones. Track Days For MINI Owners In UK

This summer MINI is treating its owners with novice track days courses, in cooperation with Motor Sport Vision, on four of the Britain’s most famous race tracks. The four novice track evenings held at Brands Hatch, Snetterton, Cadwell Park and Bedford Autodrome will be offered exclusively to MINI owners at a special subsidised rate of £49 per person. This special novice track day offer is open to MINI owners who have participated in a maximum of 3 track days to ensure that all drivers are similarly experienced. As fans of MINI brand all over the world are celebrating their return to world rallying, which resulted in a remarkable sixth place in the debut event in Sardinia, Italy, the team brings the car back home to the UK by attending at the Cornbury Park Rally Show. MINI WRC Team Gets Down To Business

During an even at the MINI Plant in Oxford, the WRC team officially launched its 2011 program which includes six rounds of the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) with the MINI John Cooper Works WRC. Mini’s comeback to world rally championship will begin for real from next year. The 2011 Season is more of a warm up for the car and the drivers. The car will be tested against its rivals for the first time at the Rally d’Italia Sardegna from 5th to 8th May 2011. MINI back in WRC with the Countryman

After years and years of absence MINI is finally in a position to make a big comeback to World Rally Championship and they will be doing so starting from 2011 season. The car charged with the job is the new Countryman crossover which is currently getting the WRC treatment by Prodrive. The cat will be made under new Super2000 regulations, which means it will be powered by 1.6-litre, four-cylinder turbo-charged engine.
