Mercedes took the wraps off the new SLK55 AMG ahead of its debut at the IAA motor show. Its newly developed AMG 5.5-litre V8 engine featuring cylinder shut-off combines the ultimate in performance with the best possible fuel consumption. With a peak output of 422 hp and maximum torque of 540 Nm, the SLK 55 AMG outperforms all of its direct competitors. Its fuel consumption of 33.6 mpg on the combined cycle and CO2 emissions of 195 grams per kilometre are around a 30 percent improvement of that of its predecessor. 40 years after a momentous victory at the Spa-Francorchamps with the superb SEL 6.8 AMG, Mercedes is returning to the track for the 24 hours race with the decadent of the original racer, the Mercedes SLS GT3. What makes it special is the similar livery that the SLS is wearing. The SLS AMG GT3 is being entered by the private team Black Falcon, and is visually reminiscent of the legendary racing touring car that made AMG world-famous overnight.
